This telescope is great !! Tracks smooth and ultra stable takes a while to learn to how to use the tracking and very crystal clear optics.! The red dot its ok not great . The hand controller is easy to use . Everybody that says it unstable well you dont know how to use a telescope period! I highly have to say tho that you need to have workers that need to know what there doing or talking about i went to the p.a.t.s convenction and they didnt know if they sold them or not and they didnt know how to use them!! But great job with this telescope !! (Posted on 9/25/12)Rate This Product - Top notch Review by Corkum

I've been researching telescopes for sometime now, being my first scope I wanted to make sure I was buying something I could understand how to use along with the performance of good optics and reliable go-to tech. I actively searched for bad reviews on this scope, I found many bad reviews but felt that most of them were purely human error. Some of course were not such as the single fork arm being under designed and the gears being quite noisy. I finally decided regardless of some of the bad reviews this was still the scope for me and i can tell you after purchasing it i have absolutely no regrets. Just as I thought most of the bad reviews were a direct result of human error and not the scope itself. This scope is a go-to and does do a lot of the work itself, but a little bit of reading and some knowledge about telescopes themselves will go along ways especially when it comes to aligning the telescope. And for the record the single fork arm is weaker then the dual fork, but it still gets the job done and the gears run surprisingly smooth. My advice is do your homework and be patient, like anything new you cant expect to be pro at it the first time around with that said this is a perfect starter scope and for someone wanting to get into astronomy with a reasonable budget you wont be disappointed with this scope. Compre 8 SE el telescopio hace tres meses y resulto ser muy buena eleccion.....relacion Costo beneficio.Rate This Product
Su peso y tamaño es perfecto para poder tranportalo a lugares con mejor visibilidad.
Vivo en Peru y lo traje desde EEUU. compre el power tank y el kit de lentes, sin esto no se podria sacar provecho a las funciones del telescopio. (Posted on 6/7/12) - Value and Views.... Review by herrointment

Two years after my purchase I still feel this is one of the best values in computerized GOTO telescopes in the marketplace.Rate This Product
The mount is accurate for visual use and works very well for imaging the moon and planets with a webcam. Once you are familiar with the process the GOTO functionality is simple and accurate. The Hand controller and software are intuitive in use.
The C8 optical tube sports fine optics with little mirror shift when focusing,
Lightweight, simple to operate and wonderful to look through, the Celestron Nexstar 8 SE is a terrific value and system I am proud to own. (Posted on 5/31/12) - Best Choice for the Money!! Review by Wade

I spent several weeks researching my selection for a new replacement telescope. I selected the NexStar 8 SE because of its size and features. I received the telescope within 2 days of ordering it. I was easy to setup and I performed the alignment without any problem. I was able to see Mars, Venus and Jupiter the first night. It has been raining for the last couple of days, but next week it will be clear for some night time fun. I already own the lens accessory kit, and I ordered the AC adapter and Power Tank for use with the telescope. I will be updating this review after I use the scope for a couple of months. For the money, I feel this was the best choice. The NexStar 8 SE gives me the most features at a price less than other telescopes with similar features. (Posted on 3/25/12)Rate This Product
