I purchased this little baby right after I got my NexStar6. In optics there is always a trade-off in performance. This gem will reduce your focal length from 1500mm to around 960mm, and it will reduce the resolving power at prime, if you are using a camera, from 30 power to about 20 power, but it significantly brightens all of the celestial objects in a wider field of view. I use the telescope more with the focal reducer than without it. All Messier objects look better and fit better in an eyepiece. I tend to keep it on all night, unless I am sighting in a planet, even then it brightens the image. The bottom line is that ie allows a an f10 telescope to gather more light.
