On August 24th, astronomers from the International Astronomical Union declared that Pluto is no longer a planet under historic new guidelines that downsize the solar system from nine planets to eight. Celestron was quick to react to this news of cosmic magnitude with the release of the updated SkyScout firmware. Though Pluto is still listed in the planet menu, the new firmware enables our award winning personal planetarium to correctly identify Pluto's new status as a dwarf planet in a revised text description.
