 Leveling your telescope mount
Answer

For the best use of your telescope, level your tripod before observations begin.

This is especially important for the equatorial (EQ) models because it affects polar-aligning the scopes.

First, set up on a relatively flat and level site. Second, check the inclination of the tripod by using a level on a flat surface on the tripod leg tops. The AstroMaster mounts have no built-in level, but you can get an inexpensive bubble level at most hardware stores to help with this. Adjust the length of the tripod legs by unlocking and shortening or lengthening them as needed until the bubble is centered in the level.
