My telescope rings have a screw missing
Answer The equatorial (EQ) AstroMaster models come equipped with tube rings to easily mount the telescope and balance the tube. One of the rings is equipped with a 1/4x20 screw and lock for piggybacking a camera on the scope. You may notice that the other ring has a threaded hole but no screw or lock. This is perfectly normal and your scope is not missing the screw. Both rings are threaded because all the tube rings are manufactured in the same way whether or not they are the ring that will eventually be used for the piggybacking fitting.
