For the best use of your telescope, level your tripod before observations begin.
This is especially important for your NexStar SLT mount because it affects Sky Aligning the scopes.
First, set up on a relatively flat and level site. Attach the tube and any major accessories you are using. Balance the scope. Second, check the inclination of the tripod by using the built-in bubble level located on the mount base. Adjust the length of the tripod legs by unlocking and shortening or lengthening them as needed until the bubble is centered in the level. For best results, make sure the tripod is stable and undisturbed after leveling it.
NOTE: When turning the tripod leg locking bolts, don't overtighten them as this may damage the plastic and brass locking fixture on the legs. Use care not to lean on the tripod, as it's designed to only hold the weight of the scope and accessories and excessive extra force may break the spreaders or other parts.
