My 114LCM telescope gives tilted views when I’m looking at terrestrial (ground) scenes. What’s wrong?
Answer

Nothing is wrong. These scopes are Newtonian reflectors that normally give inverted views. They are designed for astronomical use.

On the 114LCM telescope tube (OTA), there is a metal bar (the dovetail bar) that is used to hold the tube to the mount arm. The bar is attached to the tube at a 45-degree position to conveniently position the eyepiece for astronomical viewing.

Because of this 45-degree orientation, the images through the OTA will be tilted when the scope is used to view any terrestrial scenes.
