My Celestron mount is making a high pitched whine or hum even when it’s not moving. Is this a problem?
Answer No, it’s not a problem. This noise is perfectly normal and does not adversely affect the performance of your mount.

The audible noise originates from Celestron’s new internal power supply.  A switching power supply was developed to provide regulated power to the electric motors, improving mount operating efficiency and performance.  It is used in our current CGEM, CGEM DX, CPC Deluxe and CGE Pro models and it operates at a frequency within the human hearing range. Because of this, you may hear an audible hum whenever you have your mount turned on.
