This means your Sync operation has failed. Sync is a function to improve accuracy over a specific region of the sky. It’s great for tasks like constellation tours.
To use it, select a star or object in the region of interest, slew to it and press Undo to reach the top Menu level. Select Sync using the up-down keys, center the star in your finder, press Enter, center the star in the eyepiece, and press Align.
If “Offset too large” displays, then the scope is acknowledging that its alignment is too far off for any improvement to be gained using Sync. This can happen with polar alignment, too, which for Celestron GoTo scopes is based on Sync. You need to either realign your scope or try syncing on another object in a different area of the sky.
