I have a NexImage camera that fits very loosely in my eyepiece drawtube. Is this a problem? What can be done about it?
Answer Some NexImage nosepieces are smaller than 1.25 inches outside diameter.  The difference is typically less than 0.03 inches.

The good news is that it does not affect the image quality because  the diameter difference is quite small and the chip is much smaller than the drawtube diameter.

The workaround is simply to tighten the imager off-centered in your drawtube with setscrews.

The camera is in no sense “out of collimation”. You are re-centering the image on the chip and a shift of a few hundredths of an inch off-axis won't affect image quality any more than a similar amount on any image with the telescope.

For an 80" focal length instrument, this amounts to re-centering by about an arc-minute on the image plane. That is about the diameter of Jupiter at a typical opposition.

Celestron can replace the small nosepieces. Please contact Technical Support for details.
