- Super for DSI at 2 x 2 binning Review by JD
-
Have recently received my new nightscape and have found it particularly suburb at taking DSI of galaxies and nebulas. Seems to like the 2 x 2 binning best although 4 x 4 binning is fine as well. I use the camera almost exclusively with a F6.5 reducer and extender piece. F10 on my C11 is too narrow for most shots. I can't use the Fastsar function as my C11 is not converted for that, but the reducer provides a good feild of vision. So far I have had little luck in getting clean shots of planets using the Nightscape. Well worth the money. I am obtaining good quality phots in a light poluteed city back yard. Thanks Celestron. So far the camera has upheld my expectations. Produces a good quality photo with little noise and artifacting even before you add dark and bias frames to the stack. AstroFX is a bit clunky and could definitely use a make-over, but is generally easy and straight forward to use. For new comers it's a good camera for quality and price, but there is definitely a learning curve and you should do your homework before getting into astrophotography.
