Celestron Oceana 7×50 Marine Binoculars
After receiving these binoculars in preparation for the approaching fishing/diving/sailing season here in Southern California our crew at http://www.HookBuzz.com has been quite pleased with their performance and durability. The main qualities being the image clarity and stability which is due in part to the wide stance these binoculars maintain. Clarity and stability are everything to anyone who constantly has their eyes in the cups for extended periods of time. We found that while underway, fixing on targets, even from elevated viewpoints was not an issue and allowed for longer viewing with less eye stress.
Second we found the compass to be a great feature we now can’t live without as it comes in handy when shouting down locations of crashing fish and bait balls from a tuna tower or quick navigational references. The night illumination is especially helpful as we often operate during twilight hours in the busy shipping lanes of the Catalina Channel. We also put its ability to determine distance to the test using the horizontal/vertical reticules and found the calculations on the lens cap dial to be rather accurate based on our GPS distances to the same points. We also attempted to determine the height of a passing container vessel however could not verify if our measurement was close to the actual size.
Seemingly very durable, the HookBuzz.com crew was more than happy with the addition of these to our boat. Knowing Celestron’s history in telescopes we had an idea they would be good and weren’t let down. After using the Celestron Oceana 7×50, we are convinced that all the unique features combined with the competitive price, we feel that these Binoculars cannot be beat!
