Celestron's Frequently
Asked Questions
Answers
Q: I use Windows XP and the driver does not appear to work with the camera. (All models)
A: It is not necessary to load the drivers for Windows XP computers. VistaPix is designed to work with XP as a Plug and Play device. Once you have connected your USB cable to the computer and powered up your VistaPix, the unit should appear as an additional drive in your "My Computer" folder. If for some reason the unit does not appear in the "My Computer" folder, the drive letter the unit is looking to create may already be in use. If you are experiencing this problem, you may need to map a new drive. Contact Technical Support to resolve this issue.

Q: The images seen on my LCD screen look fuzzy on the display. (#72212)
A: Fuzzy images will result if the protective plastic film is still attached to your LCD screen. Although this step is not listed in the manual, you must remove the protective plastic film from the LCD screen prior to use.

Q: The battery configuration in the manual is incorrect. (#72212)
A: Unfortunately, the battery configuration was incorrect in the first printing of the manual. This has been corrected in subsequent printings of the manual. The battery configuration shown under the battery compartment is correct and should be followed if there is any doubt.

Q: I cannot register the PhotoManager software on the manufactures web site because my serial number is not recognized. (All models)
A: If you are not online and register your software at the time you are installing it, you will not have access to some functions such as importing and exporting albums. If you try to register the software after installation your original serial number may not work any more. If this happens, customers can enter the following universal serial number T3HM8-8F7HX.

Q: My serial number is not recognized when installing the Photo Manager software. (All Models)
A: Through customer feedback, we have discovered that some of our VistaPix serial numbers are not recognized. If this is the case, you should be able to enter the universal serial number YCWC2-DB29B instead of the number that came on your installation disk.

Q: My computer can not play back my VistaPix movies. (#72212)
A: In order to use Windows Media Player to view the video AVI file taken with your VistaPix, the computer viewing the AVI file needs to be running Microsoft DirectX version 8.0a or later. If you experience problems viewing AVI files from Media Player you should determine the DirectX version that is installed on your computer. To do this:
- Click on [Start] -> “Run…”
- Type "dxdiag" in the “Open” field and click [OK]
- This will open the DirectX Diagnostics screen. The DirectX version will be displayed on the opening screen.
If the DirectX version number is not 8.0a or higher, or if you wish to upgrade DirectX to the most current version, go to the Microsoft DirectX Web Page at: www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx
Follow the download instructions given on the web site. The download is free.

Q: The PhotoManager software would not let me continue with the installation.
A: When installing PhotoManager software - you must to enter something "company" field in order to proceed to the next installation screen.
