How can I mount my AstroMaster telescope’s counterweight if there is a metal pin jammed inside?

Remove the counterweight locking screw from the side of the counterweight. Use a flat head screwdriver that will easily fit into the counterweight shaft hole. Push the aluminum pin, so it can be placed back inside the threaded hole for the locking screw.

If the pin falls out, place it back inside the counterweight (rounded end positioned towards the center of the weight). Thread in the locking screw (not all the way), and make sure the pin does not protrude into the counterweight shaft hole.

Mount the counterweight on to the counterweight shaft. You may need to tilt the counterweight to keep the pin in the hole. Tighten the locking screw, and replace the safety knob on the end of the shaft.
