Official Statement Regarding COVID-19 and the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF)

Dear friends of Celestron,

Since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak began, Celestron has been closely monitoring the situation and creating plans to protect our employees and customers. Today, Rockland Community College, the location of the annual Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) announced new restrictions limiting public campus gatherings to no more than 50 people until further notice. While we are saddened to learn this news, we fully support the college’s decision and believe it is in the best interest of all NEAF exhibitors, attendees, and staff.

Every year, we look forward to meeting our customers, colleagues, and esteemed speakers at NEAF. As the event’s Platinum Sponsor, we strongly believe in NEAF’s mission to promote the hobby of astronomy to people from all walks of life. However, the health and safety of our customers and employees must always come first.

We are in close communication with the Rockland Astronomy Club regarding their plans. We look forward to participating in any alternative, virtual, or rescheduled NEAF events in partnership with them.

In addition to our withdrawal from the April NEAF event, Celestron has implemented its own voluntary restrictions to safeguard our employees’ health. Celestron employees will not participate in large public events or business travel until further notice. We continue to follow all CDC recommendations at our US facilities.

Clearly, the situation with COVID-19 is highly fluid. We expect that it will continue to impact our daily lives both at work and at home. No matter what, Celestron is committed to doing what’s best for our team members, our families, and our community. We wish you good health during this uncertain time.

Sincerely,

Corey Lee
