Solar Warning
  • Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
  • Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
  • Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.

  • Starry Night

You Buy One. We Give One.

The Lumina 130mm is a powerful, portable Dobsonian telescope designed for easy observing and meaningful impact. When you purchase Lumina for yourself, Celestron donates an identical telescope to a K-12 school in the United States, helping bring hands-on astronomy into classrooms across the country.

A Telescope Designed to Perform and Be Shared

Meet Lumina, a compact yet capable 130mm tabletop Dobsonian created to make the night sky approachable, exciting, and easy to share. With a large 5.1” parabolic primary mirror, a collapsible Dobsonian design, and all the accessories you need to get started, Lumina is ready to go whenever clear skies appear, whether that’s in your backyard, on a camping trip, or at a school star party.

Lumina is designed to remove friction from stargazing. Setup is quick. Navigation feels natural. And the views are impressive from the very first night out.

Observe + Give Back: The Lumina Program

For every Lumina telescope purchased, Celestron donates an identical Lumina telescope to a K–12 school in the United States, helping expand access to hands-on astronomy and STEM education.

Lumina is built around a simple idea: more students deserve the chance to experience the night sky up close. Schools choose how to put their donated telescope to work, whether that’s in the classroom, through extracurricular STEM programs, at school-hosted star parties, or by allowing students to use it at home with their families.

When you choose Lumina, you and Celestron work together to put real astronomy tools into schools, giving students meaningful, hands-on experiences with the same telescope you’re using. Learn more about the Lumina program here

Real Observing Power in a Portable Tabletop Design

Lumina sits on a smooth, stable alt-azimuth tabletop Dobsonian base that moves naturally up and down, left and right. This intuitive motion makes it easy to locate objects and keep them in view as they drift across the night sky, especially for beginners and casual observers.

The collapsible Newtonian optical tube is supported by two sturdy struts that maintain precise optical alignment. When extended for observing, the tube reaches approximately 24" in height, placing the mirrors at the correct optical distance. When not in use, the struts collapse back down, bringing the kit to a compact 18" x 14" footprint, perfect for easy storage and transport.

The entire telescope kit weighs just 13.8 lb. There’s even a built-in carry handle, making Lumina a true grab-and-go telescope. It performs just as well on a patio table as it does on a campground bench or the tailgate of a pickup truck, and it’s ready to observe in seconds.

Bright, Sharp Newtonian Optics with a Collapsible Tube

At the heart of Lumina is a 130mm (5.1") parabolic primary mirror with 345 times more light-gathering ability than the human eye. The parabolic design precisely focuses incoming light, reducing optical aberrations and delivering sharper, higher-contrast views. That means clearer detail on the Moon and planets, along with brighter, more defined views of star clusters and deep-sky objects like the Andromeda Galaxy and Orion Nebula—even from the city. Take Lumina to dark skies and unlock even fainter galaxies and nebulae.

The Newtonian reflector features durable aluminum mirror coatings with a protective SiO₂ overcoat, ensuring long-lasting reflectivity and dependable optical performance night after night.

Included Accessories

Lumina arrives ready for your first night under the stars with all the essential accessories included:

  • Two eyepieces that sit inside the base’s built-in eyepiece rack for easy swaps:
    • 25mm for wide-field views
    • 10mm for higher magnification
  • StarPointer™ red-dot finderscope for quick, easy aiming
  • Collimation cap to help keep the optics properly aligned

To support learning and exploration, Lumina also includes Starry Night astronomy software and access to the Celestron SkyPortal Powered by SkySafari™ app, providing interactive star maps, object databases, and helpful observing tools.
