Is 280 bird species enough for use by a birder in Great Britain?
Yes, this guidebook was chosen due to its applicability to beginning birders. The birds included in it are those you are most likely to see in your back garden or local nature reserve. As of 30 November 2020, the official British List includes 622 species, of which a sizable portion are rare, only able to be seen in small specific habitat areas, or similarly not likely to be seen by a birder without that person going to a great amount of effort to seek them out.
